花蓮強震，外交部今天表示，立即成立震災緊急應變小組，由禮賓處負責統籌協調，並指派該處副處長長李岳融於今天早上進駐中央災害應變中心外，亦責成外交部駐東部辦事處指派專人儘速進駐花蓮縣災害應變中心，配合該中心相關救災作業，並提供外籍人士各項協助 。
外交部也說明截至上午11點，掌握到的外籍人士受影響狀況。花蓮門諾醫院1名日籍人士腰傷，中午前即可出院；3名國籍待確認之外籍人士，輕傷。花蓮慈濟醫院7名日籍人士吸入粉塵無外傷，上午6點半已出院；1名菲律賓籍移工，已出院。花蓮國軍醫院2名捷克籍人士，1名輕傷，1名無明顯外傷。衛福部花蓮醫院1名日籍衛福部人士，已出院。體育館收容中心2位新加坡人；13名韓籍旅客，1名腳傷，已離開。雲門翠堤大樓救出之一名韓籍婦人無明顯外傷，送醫觀察。
外交部表示，相關地域司也和各國駐台機構建立聯繫管道，隨時就受地震影響的各國在台人士動態進行通報，並提供相關協助，我各駐外館處亦與救災相關事宜與駐在國相關機構保持密切聯繫，適時說明我救災進展。
